What is LightScribe and How it can be Done?

LightScribe is a disc-labeling technology that lets you laser-etch a label directly on your disc. Creating professional-looking discs is easy: burn your disc, flip the disc over, and then burn your label onto the disc. The same drive that burns your data, burns your label.

A LightScribe-enabled DVD drive uses a laser to burn an image into the coating on the label side of a LightScribe disc. The LightScribe labeling system has no ink to smear, no paper to curl, and no sticky adhesive to cause problems.

A  LightScribe enabled DVD drives can be identified by looking for the LightScribe logo [in the picture right]

Make sure you have a LightScribe-enabled disc drive. Just look for the LightScribe logo on the outside of your drive or somewhere on your computer.

Get your LightScribe media. Look for the LightScribe logo on the CD and DVD packages at your favorite retailers. Regular CDs and DVDs will not work.

In addition to label-making software, you'll need LightScribe System Software. Each hardware manufacturer will provide the optimal version for their systems. In some cases, the LightScribe System Software is included in the labeling application. Otherwise, it needs to be installed separately.
